Auxiliary Engines for continuous operation are characterized by (according to DIN ISO 8528-1):
- Maximum annual number of operating hours: 6000
- Max. average engine load 75%
- TBO* 20.000 - 25.000 hours
These engines are typically used as primary (continuous) power generators in ships and are equipped with a watercooled exhaust system. These engines are often cooled by a single or double keel cooling system.
