New MAN gas engine with 68 kW

October 19, 2009

- Small and efficient: MAN 68 kW gas engine for cogeneration plants
- Double the economy: high efficiency and subsidised in many countries

Just in time for the world's largest show for agricultural machinery and biogas technology – AGRITECHNICA 2009 in Hanover – MAN is presenting a new gas engine for cogeneration plants that is extremely suitable for fuelling with natural gas or biogas.

The gas engine is a small supercharged 4-cylinder unit from the E0834 with a rating of 68 kWmech at 1500 rpm. With this engine MAN is for the first time offering a unit rated at less than 100 kW in the biogas sector, thus tapping the market for smaller units, which also qualify for subsidies under the national laws on Renewable Energy (e.g. German EEG).
When fired by natural gas the supercharged E0834 provides not only the higher output but above all an outstanding 91.5 % efficiency.

The new E0834 engine is suitable for application in small cogeneration plants for:

- cattle-breeding enterprises producing biogas from liquid manure
- medium agricultural enterprises
- municipal facilities such as sewage plants and swimming pools
- buildings with a high heat requirement (e.g. hotel and office complexes)
- local heating plants
- and further applications.
