MAN Rollo at the Dutch VIC “Open Innovation Days”

June 21, 2011

Pig Innovation Centre (VIC) is the leading research centre in the field of pig farming. As part of the Wageningen University and Research Centre, VIC works in close cooperation with different companies within the industry and provides a real life test environment to further develop and showcase a variety of innovations.

During the “Open Innovation Days” on June 17th and 18th all companies involved in recent innovations at the VIC were invited to present themselves and get in touch with possible customers. Our sister company Topec Waste 2 Energy (TW2E) has developed the Microferm in close cooperation with Host. Within this cooperation Host has developed a digester working on manure only, allowing farmers to easily make use of this waste stream and produce both heat and electricity. TW2E has developed a CHP-unit based on our MAN 4-cilinder turbocharged intercooled engine and sells this set as a turnkey solution together with Host. The Microferm hence is a true innovation providing farmers an easy and financially attractive alternative to the more comprehensive co-digester solutions.

MAN Rollo attended the “Open Innovation Days” as the supplier of the main component of the Microferm CHP-unit. During the fair we emphasized our position as market leader in gas engines and highlighted the partners we work with in order to supply the end user with turnkey solutions. Standing side by side TW2E we were able to clearly show the end user both the value of our MAN engines and the value of an innovative packaging partner. Customers looking for innovative solutions should always contact us, as we can link you to our partners most relevant to your request.
